Description
PATHOT indicates that the respondent used a resource other than the resources listed in the questionnaire in order to search for jobs after receiving his/her doctorate. PATHOT is part of a series of variables describing the methods by which the respondent sought his/her first career path job after receiving a doctorate. The other variables include PATHDC, PATHEP, PATHFA, PATHIC, PATHNP, PATHPJ, PATHPM, PATHPO, and PATHPR.

- SESTAT SDR 1997: Sought or held a career path job after receiving doctorate degree, but did not start prior to or during the doctorate degree
- SESTAT SDR 1999: Sought or held a career path job after receiving doctorate degree, but did not start prior to or during the doctorate degree
