Description

CMFLD reports whether or not scientific or professional infrastructure in the respondent's field were a factor in the respondent's decision for coming to the United States, if the respondent was a US citizen but not born in the US. Related variables include CMEDU, CMFAM, CMOPP, CMOT, CMPRI, and CMSEC.

Comparability

In the 2013 NSCG SESTAT sample, the code 97 (Survey Exclusion/Confidentiality Suppression according to the original metadata) has been added, and code 98 (Logical Skip) has been removed. However, the universe of Non-US citizens does still apply, though it appears that the Logical Skip cases have been grouped into the code 97, which we have labeled "Survey Exclusion/Confidentiality Suppression/Logical Skip".
