Description

ACTTCH indicates whether the work activities in the respondent's primary job involves teaching. ACTTCH is derived from a question that lists a number of work activities, and the respondent is asked to check a box next to the work activity that occupied at least 10 percent of the respondent's time in a typical work week. Related variables include ACTCAP, ACTDED, ACTMGT, ACTRD, ACTRDT, and ACTRES.

ACTTCH differs from a similar variable WATEA in that ACTTCH is an NSF recode using the same question as WATEA, whereas WATEA is the original response.

Comparability

It appears that in years 1999 and earlier logical skips were coded as ?No? instead of following the skip pattern from LFSTAT.
