Description

NCPRI reports the respondent's most important reason for not taking courses during the time period specified by the survey. The variable NCSEC reports the second most important reason for not taking courses.

Comparability

In the NSCG samples in 1997 and 1999, some cohorts did not receive the question "Which of the following were reasons why you were not enrolled or taking college courses during that time period?".

In the SESTAT NSCG 1997 sample, the NSCG 1990 cohort was not asked the question, and the cases were assigned a code of 97 (Survey Exclusion/Confidentiality).

In the SESTAT NSCG 1999 sample, the NSCG 1990 and NSRCG 1993 cohorts were not asked the question, and the cases were assigned a code of 97 (Survey Exclusion/Confidentiality).
